One continuous form.

Exterior storage gives way to negative surfacing and an integrated skid profile, expressing the project’s pursuit of lightness and performance.

Open to the sky.

A panoramic windshield and proposed carbon-fibre airframe put visibility and spatial awareness at the centre of the experience.

Titanium exhaustExhaust styling around the Safran Arriel 2D engine.
Engine bayThe intake flows into the windshield, carrying Singer’s functional design language.
Rotor systemThe Starflex rotor becomes part of the aircraft’s visible mechanical character.
Tailboom lightingA reimagined position-light system with racing influence.
Fuel capA recognisable Singer detail, translated to the aircraft.
Secondary ventAn automotive reference resolved into the body surface.

Design intent & technical scope +

The exterior study proposes removing external storage in pursuit of lower weight, reshaping surfaces for a more continuous silhouette, and integrating the skids with the body. The windshield, carbon-fibre airframe, exhaust, intake, rotor, lighting, fuel cap, and vent form one exterior direction.

The original project also explored the rotor’s accommodation of blade flapping, lead/lag, and pitch movement. Further development would test the proposed airframe, rotor materials, weight, and aerodynamic performance.

Design opportunities

Preserve the icon.
Reconsider the experience.

01

Expand the brand. Bring Singer’s personal, performance-led approach into luxury recreational aviation.

02

Focus the intervention. Explore the windshield, doors, storage, exhaust styling, skids, and tail lighting around the aircraft’s critical systems.

03

Make function expressive. Combine continuous surfaces, purposeful structure, and recognisable Singer details.

Market research & aircraft context +

The original market study cited a $36.4 billion global private-aviation market in 2023, projected to reach $50.4 billion by 2030. It also cited brand identity as a purchase factor for 35% of new helicopter buyers, up from 20% in 2018, alongside interest in interior customisation. These figures are retained as the project’s research context.

The H125 was selected for its recognisable form, performance heritage, and use in film and aerial photography. The original research referenced the highest-altitude landing and takeoff record, the platform’s 1974 debut, its light-helicopter category, and an indicative $3.2 million price point.

Research notes +

Competitor mapping and aircraft research cover the H125 / AS350, ACH130, and MD 500E. The studies examine proportions, performance references, cabin layouts, airframe and rotor architecture, landing gear, and interior opportunities.

This research establishes the aircraft as a system, giving the exterior exploration a defined set of components and relationships to work around.

Development notes +

Silhouette sketches develop into proportion models, followed by body and windshield variations. The landing skids, intake, exhaust, and rotor–tail relationships are refined through successive studies.

The completed exterior direction brings the three design principles—dynamic continuity, purposeful structure, and iconic elements—into a single aircraft.
